Wesley parent sees revenue, admissions grow

The parent company of Wesley Medical Center said strong patient volume and cost management drove its revenue higher in the third quarter.

HCA said today its revenue increased 5.5 percent to $7.3 billion in the three-month period ended Sept. 30.

Net income was $61 million compared with $243 million in the same quarter a year ago. The Nashville, Tenn.-based hospital operator said net income was lower because of a pre-tax loss of $406 million on retirement of debt.

HCA said equivalent admissions increased 5.4 percent and admissions increased 4.8 percent.
