Harvest approaches halfway point in south-central Kansas

Harvest progresses steadily in Kansas, with south-central farmers having harvested 39 percent of the crop through last weekend.

So far, the condition of the winter wheat was rated 23 percent very poor, 27 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 18 percent good and 2 percent excellent.

The corn, sorghum and soybeans are doing much better, so far. Less than 10 percent of those crops is rated as poor or very poor.
