Weast steps down as Weigand president

Roger Weast has resigned as president of J.P. Weigand and Sons.

The resignation, effective Saturday, is to pursue other opportunities, Weast said Tuesday.

"I've been there a little over three years," Weast said. "It's time to move on. I think the world of the Weigands. It's a great company, and they'll be fine without me."

Weigand CEO Nestor Weigand was unavailable Tuesday for comment.

During Weast's tenure as Weigand president, the company expanded its services and strengthened its hold as the top residential brokerage in Wichita, forming new divisions such as foreclosures and marketing during a difficult period in Wichita's residential and commercial real estate markets.

Weast said he's unsure about his next professional move, but he didn't rule out a return to the real estate industry.
