SBA program targets federal contracts for women-owned small businesses

The Small Business Administration is launching a new federal contracting program for women-owned small businesses.

SBA said the Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract Program will be implemented over the next several months. The first contracts are expected to be awarded in the fourth quarter.

SBA said the new program allows federal contracting officers to set aside specific contracts for certified women-owned and economically disadvantaged women-owned small businesses.

On Friday SBA will provide instructions on how to participate in the program. The instructions can be accessed at www.sba.gov/wosb.
