This spring's Entrepreneurship Forum Series for Business Ownership at Wichita State University will focus on entrepreneurial thought in action.
The forums, sponsored by Wichita State's Center for Entrepreneurship, include presentations on Feb. 10, March 10 and April 7. Each is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at 107 Devlin Hall on the WSU campus. All forums are free and open to the public.
* Feb. 10, commercial real estate and development: Paul Jackson, president and owner of Vantage Point Properties, George Laham, president of Laham Development, and Brad Saville, president and chief executive of Landmark Commercial Real Estate.
* March 10, The Creative Mind Behind Redbox: Michael DeLazzer, founding member and creator of Redbox.
* April 7, The Internet of Tomorrow: Gary Bridge, senior vice president and global lead for Cisco Internet Business Solutions Group.
Tim Pett, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, said that the forums will examine the variety of ways to start and grow a business.
"There isn't a boilerplate on how to be an entrepreneur and that's the great thing," Pett said. "The three panels have three different unique things going on, so we'll see how they each started their business and the unique things that have occurred to grow their businesses."
The first forum on commercial real estate will examine Wichita's stability in a volatile national marketplace.
"There's a lot of interesting work going on in our local real estate market, and a lot of talk nationally about highs and lows. I don't think our property has spiked like that," Pett said. "So there are lessons to be learned from those three guys on how they've operated."
