The Hinkle Elkouri Law Firm is changing its name to the Hinkle Law Firm to reflect the departure of founding member David Elkouri.
Elkouri moved over to a full-time position with firm client Petrohawk Energy Corp.
The firm's retains the name of founder Winton Hinkle, who now serves as senior counsel.
"With David's continued work at Petrohawk, it was time to update the firm's name," said managing member Mitch Herren.
Herren said he expects increased activity in the Wichita office in a variety of areas: litigation related to the bankruptcies of major automobile manufacturers; changes in estate and income tax laws, health care and other employee benefit and employment laws; changes in environmental regulations affecting the oil and gas industry; a resurgence of sales activity in the domestic and international aviation sector and increased activities in business and real estate transactions.
Growth at the firm's Kansas City-area office could mean expansion there.
