Dry weather and lack of snow cover are leaving many winter wheat farmers concerned as the spring gets closer, according to the USDA.
The condition of the winter wheat declined slightly from the end of January to 40 percent very poor or poor, 35 percent fair, 25 percent good or excellent.
78 percent of the wheat crop experienced no wind damage and 75 percent had no freeze damage.
