Scoular buys Pratt ethanol plant

PRATT — The Scoular Co., based in Omaha, has purchased Gateway Plant, including a 55 million gallon ethanol plant and adjoining shuttle train facility in Pratt.

Terms of the transaction were not announced.

Located along the Union Pacific Railroad, the Pratt facility can load 100-car shuttle trains of grain, dried distillers grains and ethanol.

The facility should be able to receive grain by April 1, according to Scoular officials, and the ethanol plant should be operational in late 2011 once renovations are complete.
