In December, 2,923 Kansas workers lost their jobs in 23 mass layoffs, on a non seasonally-adjusted basis.
That's down from December 2009, when 4,878 Kansas workers lost jobs in 28 mass layoffs.
The numbers were up considerably over November because of seasonal post-Christmas layoffs.
A mass layoff means at least 50 people over five weeks.
