Construction employment remained down in the Wichita area in November, bucking a nationwide trend of stabilizing employment, the Associated General Contractors of America said today.
Statewide, construction employment is up 5 percent over November 2009, or about 2,800 jobs. But in Wichita, employment is off 7 percent year over year, down 1,000 jobs.
"It is good to see the construction industry finishing the year on a relatively positive note," said Ken Simonson, the association's chief economist, in a statement. "But even if the industry is no longer on the brink, it is still a long way from recovering."
