Meritrust Credit Union to close three branches

Meritrust Credit Union said today that it will close three underutilized branches.

Meritrust president and CEO Bob Corwin said in a release that the credit union will close its NewMarket Square, Haysville and Andover branches in the next year. It also is reviewing options to consolidate two branches in Lawrence.

Additionally, Meritrust said it has partnered with the CU Service Centers CO-OP Shared Branching Network, giving Meritrust customers access to more than 4,500 branches nationwide.

"One of the competitive advantages of credit unions is our cooperative environment," Corwin said in the release.

Other credit unions in the Wichita area that are part of the shared-branch network include Credit Union of America, Mid American Credit Union, First Choice Credit Union and the Cessna Employees Credit Union.

Meritrust Credit Union is the largest Kansas-chartered credit union with 62,000 members and $700 million in assets.
