Megan McCurdy of McCurdy Auction won the 2010 Kansas Auctioneers Association champion auctioneer contest at the Kansas State Fair.
McCurdy is the first female contestant to win the state competition and was the only female contestant this year.
Each auctioneer was interviewed by a panel of three judges prior to the contest and the points scored from the interviews were tabulated into the final score. Contestants also were judged on presentation, clarity, speed, salesmanship and rhythm.
McCurdy won a champion belt buckle, a plaque and paid entry into the 2011 International Auctioneers Championship in Orlando, Fla.
