Council considering two CID applications

The Wichita City Council will hold public hearings this morning on a community improvement district request for a WaterWalk hotel and a retail district.

The requests are from developers Jim Korroch for a proposed Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites hotel at WaterWalk, and Christian Ablah for a retail development at Central and Oliver.

Community improvement district designations allow the city to levy up to an extra 2 percent sales tax at businesses within the district to finance land acquisition and infrastructure construction.

Come back to Kansas.com and see Wednesday's Eagle for updates on the hearings.
