Nearly half the corn crop in south central Kansas was harvested as of Sunday, according to the US Department of Agriculture
The condition of the state's corn crop was rated 3 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 12 percent excellent.
Eighty percent of sorghum had turned color in south central Kansas, ahead of last year and the five-year average. Three percent of the sorghum statewide has been harvested.
Ninety-seven percent of the soybean crop in south central Kansas had pods setting, compared to 100 percent for both last year and the five-year average.
