The average weekly wage in Sedgwick County in the fourth quarter was $872, a 3.3 percent increase over the fourth quarter of 2008, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That places Sedgwick County 126th out of the country's 334 most populous counties, and above the national average of 2.5 percent.
The increase comes despite one of the sharpest drops in employment in the nation during 2009, down 7.7 percent.
Other Kansas counties' wages: Johnson, $982; Wyandotte, $890; Shawnee, $798.
