Wheat price soars over $6 in Kansas

Wheat prices soared to recent highs today, according to a survey of Kansas elevators.

The highest recorded price was $6.16 a bushel at Coffeyville. Elevators at Salina and Garden Plain hit $6.02. Meanwhile, the lowest reading was $5.77 a bushel, at Scott City.

"It's the biggest price we've seen in a long time," said a spokeswoman for the Wellington Co-op, where today's price hit $5.94 a bushel.
