Younger participants sought for city trips

Visioneering Wichita wants more young professionals involved in its annual city-to-city visits, and it has established a program to make that happen.

The Emerging Leaders Program is for professionals between ages 25 and 39. It will provide scholarships for them to attend city-to-city visits, such as the one to Louisville, Ky., planned for Oct. 10-13.

Visioneering said it realizes that some young professionals may not have the financial means to attend the city-to-city visits, and the Emerging Leaders Program is a way to cover those costs. The Louisville visit, for example, costs $1,850 per person.

It said two full or partial scholarships are available this year.

"We believe this program is another way to increase diversity, as well as provide a unique opportunity for winners to network with other community leaders," said Jon Rolph, volunteer chair of the Visioneering steering committee.

For more information on the scholarships, e-mail Diane Longfellow at dlongfellow@wichitachamber.org.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 1. Scholarship recipients will be announced Sept. 3.
