Nearly 8,000 Kansans to lose unemployment benefits

Nearly 8,000 long-term unemployed Kansans will lose unemployment benefits as of Monday as their extended federal unemployment benefits run out, according to the National Employment Law Project.

Congress has been stalemated on extending long-term unemployment benefits. The federal and state governments have introduced several extensions that have extended benefits for more than a year.

The number of Kansans who fall off the unemployment benefit roles by months end will grow to 10,400.
