Asian/Pacific trade is focus of conference

The World Trade Council of Wichita and the Center for International Business Advancement will have a Doing Business with ASEAN Trade conference May 20 at the Wichita Marriott, 9100 E. Corporate Hills Drive.

The conference, which costs $75, is being held in conjunction with the 34th Annual World Trade Week.

The Center for International Business Advancement is at the W. Frank Barton School of Business.

The conference, centered around trade opportunities with the 10 countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, will feature the largest trade delegation visiting Wichita since 2006.

The delegates are from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam. The Asia/Pacific region is Kansas' second-largest export market.

The conference will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A VIP reception and banquet will be from 5:45-9 p.m. The cost for the reception and banquet is $35 for World Trade Council members and $45 for nonmembers.
