Wheat crop advances in warm weather

Higher temperatures and little rain allowed the winter wheat crop to progress this week, and for a few producers to start planting corn.

Ninety-four percent of the wheat crop has broken dormancy and 13 percent is now jointed, below average for this time of year.

Wheat condition was rated 69 percent good or excellent and 25 percent fair, with relatively little wind, freeze or insect damage.
