Hawker Beechcraft tests T-6 derivative

Hawker Beechcraft Corp.' s second Beechcraft AT-6 production test aircraft took its first flight on March 31, the company announced.

The aircraft features the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT-6A-6D engine.

The AT-6 is a structurally strengthened derivative of the company's T-6 trainer and will be used as a light attack and armed reconnaissance aircraft.

The U.S. Air Force is expected to launch an acquisition program this year.
