Wages in Sedgwick County fell to $755 weekly in the third quarter of 2009, down 0.9 percent from the same quarter of 2008, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That makes Sedgwick County the 252nd worst performer of the 334 largest counties in the United States. Overall, wages fell 0.1 percent to $840.
In Kansas, Johnson County weekly wages were $858, down 0.9 percent; Wyandotte wages were $812, down 2.2 percent; and Shawnee County was $724, up 1.5 percent.
The wage number is the total wages spread over the total number of people employed.
