City to consider Warren IMAX plan

The Wichita City Council on Tuesday will consider a letter of intent to issue $16 million in industrial revenue bonds for an addition to the 21st Street Warren Theatre, including a new IMAX screen.

According to city documents, the bonds would cover the new 600-seat IMAX theater, refurbishing the existing facility and refinancing $8.8 million in existing loans on the facility.

Company owner Bill Warren did not return calls for comment on Thursday.

The estimated project cost for the theater improvements is $6.55 million.

The project, according to city documents, should add 25 jobs to the theater, raising employment to 120.
