The Environmental Protection Agency will have a free workshop in Topeka on May 17 for representatives of eligible participant groups who plan to apply for a 2011 Brownfields Program grant. The workshop will explain different types of grants and how the grant process works.
Brownfields are properties where expansion, redevelopment or reuse may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of hazardous substances, pollutants, petroleum or petroleum products, for example.
The workshop is for governments, nonprofits, coalitions, land clearance authorities and quasi-governmental entities involved in brownfields assessment, cleanup or revolving loan fund grants.
The workshop also will be offered via Webinar, for those unable to attend in person.
