New apartments built in Haysville

Kansas Housing Resources Corp. and Zimmerman Properties of Springfield, Mo., have opened the 48-unit Bridgewater II low-income apartment complex in Haysville.

The $4.4 million complex stalled last year because of the credit crunch, but the project got $3 million from the Tax Credit Exchange Program, created by the stimulus bill, and a $1.4 million loan from Empire Bank.

The stimulus funds made possible a project that generated more than 100 construction-related jobs as well as needed housing, said Robert Davidson, chief operations officer and chief financial officer for Zimmerman Properties.
