State hits Etheredge, Wild West World with tax warrants

Wild West World founder Thomas Etheredge has been hit with two tax warrants for the months leading up to the theme park's failure.

According to two warrants filed in late March by the Kansas Department of Revenue, Etheredge owes $180,635.12 in sales tax for December 2006 and February through June 2007.

He also owes $42,271.56 in withholding taxes for the fourth quarter of 2006 and the first two quarters of 2007.

Etheredge is scheduled to be sentenced at 2 p.m. Friday in Sedgwick County District Court on seven counts of securities fraud.

The convictions center around his efforts to raise private capital for the insolvent theme park dating back to 2005 _ but centering around the fourth quarter of 2006 and the first two quarters of 2007.
