The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said 325 Kansas homeowners had their home loan payments permanently lowered in January through the federal Making Home Affordable loan modification program.
Another 2,599 were in a trial period.
Nationally, 116,000 home loans have been permanently lowered through the program.
The loan modification program lowers mortgage interest but not the principle.
Only those who show evidence that they can make the new lower payments can enter the program.
