Eagle business section recognized for excellence

The Wichita Eagle's business section has been recognized as one of the top publications in the country.

The Eagle was an overall excellence winner in the Society of American Business Editors and Writers annual competition.

It is the first time The Eagle has received the award in the contest's 15-year history.

The Eagle was one of three papers to earn the distinction in its division, for papers with circulation under 125,000, joining the Salt Lake Tribune and Columbia (S.C.) State.

Overall, there were 796 entries in the contest, the second-most in its history. Each winning entry is now being considered for SABEW's Best of the Best awards.
