Building an entrepreneurial city topic at Accelerate the Heartland

A number of entrepreneurs, experts and venture capitalists will present at the first Accelerate the Heartland, an event that combines several entrepreneurship-oriented events.

It will run all day Oct. 5 at the Wichita Marriott.

Keynote speaker will be Victor Hwang, vice president of the Kauffman Foundation, who will speak about how to build an entrepreneurial community. In his job, he supports entrepreneurs starting businesses, leaders seeking guidance in the innovation economy and communities seeking sustained business creation.

There will also be a panel discussion on what venture capitalists look for in a company, featuring Dennis Depenbusch, New Ventures Initiative, BlueCross BlueShield of Kansas; Jeff Stowell, Royal Street Investment & Innovation Center; Carlos Fernandez Jr., Page Out/Clutch Studio; Jeremy Jones, Nitride Solutions; and Jonathan George, Angels of the Plains.
