December manufacturing dips, Fed says

WICHITA — Monthly manufacturing production in the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank's 10th District fell slightly in December, the Fed said today.

Ten percent of manufacturers reported production increases in December compared to 17 percent in November in the Fed's monthly survey of manufacturers in the district, which includes Kansas.

The slowdown in production occurred at durable and non-durable goods plants, the Fed said.

The survey also said that manufacturers were slightly less optimistic about the months ahead, with few reporting plans for major capital expenditures.
