Compensation rises 2.1 percent per job in 2008

Total compensation per job in Sedgwick County was $52,518 in 2008, a 2.1 percent increase over the $51,445 in 2007.

However, the total compensation for all Sedgwick County jobs rose 3.9 percent, to $14.6 billion, indicating that the work force grew faster than the average wage.

Nationally, compensation grew in more than 80 percent of the 3,112 counties, as the average annual compensation per job grew by 2.6 percent to $56,116.

Compensation includes wages, benefits, commissions and bonuses, as well as employers' contribution to workers' benefits and government insurance.
