Big Dog Motorcycles owner Sheldon Coleman has hired investment bank William Blair & Co. to help him evaluate a potential merger, partnership or sale of some or all of the company.
Sales at Big Dog, which makes heavy cruisers that range from $24,000 to $36,000, have fallen by more than half since its peak four years ago. The company has cut its work force from 336 in 2005 to 115 now.
Wichita City Council on Tuesday gave the company a tax abatement for another year on its 2000 industrial revenue bonds.
