Blue Cross, Kansas Heart Hospital sign agreement

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and Kansas Heart Hospital announced today that they have signed an agreement making the hospital part of the insurer's network, effective Jan. 1.

Kansas Heart Hospital is a 54-bed subspecialty hospital providing dedicated cardiovascular and thoracic care.

The agreement continues an expansion of Wichita's health insurance networks, with both Blue Cross and Preferred Health Systems having ended their once-exclusive hospital agreements.

"Our new agreement with Kansas Heart will strengthen our network by giving members more choice when it comes to selecting a partner for their heart health needs," Blue Cross president and CEO Andrew Corbin said in a release.
