WICHITA — Duckwall-Alco Stores announced that sales from continuing operations for the most recent five weeks was $41.5 million, 0.6 percent below the same period last year.
But sales for the year-to-date were up 2.5 percent to $312.0 million and same-store sales were also up, by 0.3 percent.
"These results reflect continued success in our turnaround program based on strengthening of our merchandising and operations," chief executive Larry Zigerelli said in a statement.
Duckwall-Alco, based in Abilene, operates variety stores in small communities in the central U.S.
