The head of Airbus' engineering office in Old Town is working to gain new engineering work for Wichita, a move that could mean an additional 100 engineering jobs.
But to win the work, Bill Greer said Airbus would need additional space near the current office at 213 N. Mead. Specifically, he would like to lease space at the former Kansas Sports Hall of Fame building, which is across the street.
Greer said he has asked Old Town developer Dave Burk if Burk can buy the Hall of Fame building and lease the space to Airbus.
The city of Wichita owns the building, which was refurbished with public use bonds that must be retired. It is listed for $1.75 million.
