Local leading indicator falls again

An index that seeks to show how the Wichita area economy will perform in the future continued to drop in September.

The Index of Leading Economic Indicators, assembled by Wichita State University's Center for Economic Development and Business Research, dropped 1.4 percentage points.

Leading the dip were fewer orders for aircraft, fewer hours worked, and a lower value of commercial building permits. On the plus side were fewer new claims for unemployment and higher value for home permits.
