Economic policy event to be held at KU

Two Wichita-area business leaders will be among those who will speak at the Kansas Economic Policy Conference on Oct. 22 at the University of Kansas.

Jim Walters, Cessna Aircraft's senior vice-president for human resources, will address the future of aviation in Kansas and the industry's contribution to the state's work force.

Greg Krissek, ICM's director of government affairs, will cover alternative energy opportunities and their influence on agriculture. Colwich-based ICM is a designer of ethanol plants.

Other speakers include Josh Svaty, acting secretary of the Kansas Department of Agriculture. He will talk about the management of agriculture and its impact on the state's economy.

Robert Litan, vice president for research and policy at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and senior fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institution, will give the keynote address.

The event will be held at the Kansas Union. A video feed of the conference will be at Pioneer Communications in Ulysses.
