The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City is one of five academic medical centers to receive a quality leadership award from the University HealthSystem Consortium. The award is given to academic medical centers that demonstrate excellence in delivering high-quality care, the consortium says.
This year, 93 member institutions were ranked. The KU hospital ranked second, university officials said.
"This is a tribute to the teamwork of physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals who are focused on how to deliver the best care possible to the patient. This kind of recognition only comes when the commitment to deliver the highest level of patient care is the priority of everyone at the hospital," said Bob Page, president and CEO of the hospital.
