The all-farm products price index for Kansas farmers for September was down 3 percent from August and 43 percent below a year ago, according to a report by the Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service.
Breaking that down further:
* All-crops price index for September was down 22 percent from August and 93 percent below September 2008.
* Meat animals price index was unchanged from August but 19 percent below last year.

Wheat in mid-September averaged $3.87 per bushel, down 87 cents from August and $3.42 below last September.
Corn in mid-September averaged $3.15 per bushel, up 2 cents from August but $1.87 below a year ago.
Beef cattle averaged $85.90 per hundred weight in mid-September, up 80 cents from August but $13.20 below last September.
The state's average price for all hogs in mid-September was $33.70 per hundred weight, up 80 cents from the previous month but down $15.50 from a year ago.
