Allegiant adds service to Phoenix

Allegiant Air will begin service between Wichita and Phoenix on Nov. 20, the city said in a press release today.

The announcement comes one week after U.S. Airways said it will end service between the cities on Nov. 1.

"We are thrilled Allegiant Air has quickly responded to our need for nonstop service to Phoenix, one of our most popular destinations," said director of airports Victor White.

Allegiant will fly between Wichita Mid-Continent Airport and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport on Mondays and Fridays. Flights will depart Wichita at 12:25 p.m. and arrive in Phoenix-Mesa at 1:45 p.m. Flights leaving Phoenix-Mesa will depart at 8:35 a.m. and arrive in Wichita at 11:45 a.m.

Allegiant has flown out of Wichita since it started service to Las Vegas in 2003. It added services to Los Angeles in May.

Allegiant will offer introductory fares to Phoenix for as low as $59.99 each way. Tickets must be purchased by Oct. 21 for travel through Feb. 10. After the introductory period, tickets will sell for as low as $79.99.

"We are extremely pleased to again expand the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop jet service in the Wichita community," Maurice Gallagher Jr., president and CEO of Allegiant, said in the release.
