WICHITA -- Boeing Wichita has received a $5.4 million contract for an initial effort to integrate a new satellite communication on the U.S. Air Force's B-52 fleet.
The extremely high frequency system will allow enable communication with the B-52 from the ground, air and space platforms, Boeing said.
The first of three contract or the work has been authorized and includes planning, risk mitigation and development of system requirements. The second will cover the design and installation of the communication hardware.
The last will integrate the new system into the Global Information Grid. The total value of the contract is expected to be more than $100 million.
