Former Morgan Stanley advisers launch new firm, 6 Meridian

Former Morgan Stanley wealth advisers in Wichita have formed their own firm.

6 Meridian is an Securities and Exchange Commission registered investment advisory firm led by CEO Margaret Dechant.

Founding partners including Dechant are Tom Kirk, senior managing director; Andrew Mies, chief investment officer; Bryan Green; Steve Bahm, Pam Smith and Sarah Hampton. All seven partners worked together at Morgan Stanley as well as six other support employees.

“Our desire to more closely align with our clients and be held to the fiduciary standard played a major part in our decision to form our own firm,” Dechant said in a news release Friday.

6 Meridian said in the release that its founders and staff managed more than $2.2 billion in assets for high, net-worth individuals across the country while at Morgan Stanley. The new firm will offer services in asset allocation, retirement and financial planning, investment management, asset protection and insurance planning, legacy planning and cash management.

“Over the past several years, we examined how we currently serve clients and how we want to serve them in the future,” Mies said in the release. “It became clear that our ability to deliver on the vision we have for our business required us to make a change.”

Pershing Advisor Solutions, a subsidiary of BNY Mellon, will be 6 Meridian’s custodian.
