Grain elevator convention coming to Century II

Representatives from the world's largest grain elevator owners, makers and suppliers will come to Wichita starting this weekend to talk about their industry.

About 2,000 people from the U.S. and around the world are set to attend the Grain Elevator and Processing Society convention at Century II.

They can attend seminars on industry trends and new regulations, and visit with hundreds of vendors set up in the exposition and exhibition halls.

The GEAPS convention lasts from Saturday to Tuesday.

It will be the first time in 22 years that the convention has been in Wichita.

"We got it because there is a very strong Great Plains chapter and there is a real attraction because of all the grain storage around there," said Van Buchanan, sales manager for Rubber Belting and Hose, a maker of elevator equipment in Wichita.

Attendees have filled up the Hyatt Regency Wichita, the Broadview Hotel and the Holiday Inn East.
