A public forum on historic preservation statutes will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 14 in the city council chambers at City Hall, 455 N. Main.
The city is reviewing options in response to a change in state historic preservation law. Legislators repealed a law last year providing for a review of changes to any property within 500 feet of a property on the state or national historic registers.
However, the legislature gave local governments the authority to adopt local ordinances keeping the review in place. So based on public feedback, the council will direct city staff on how to react to the repeal.
