No one was hurt in a drive-by shooting in east Wichita on Tuesday night, police said.
Witnesses reported seeing two vehicles driving west on 14th at Belmont at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and then shots being fired at a man who was on the corner of 14th and Fountain, a police document said. That’s just northwest of 13th and Oliver.
The 19-year-old man identified as the potential target denied being fired upon, Lt. Doug Nolte said. But officers found three shell casings and a bullet fragment in the area, as well as a vehicle that had been struck by a bullet.
Nolte said officers aren’t sure whether shots were exchanged between the two vehicles, whether people in one vehicle were shooting at the second vehicle or whether the man on the corner was the intended target.
