A Sedgwick County sheriff’s detention deputy has been cleared in a criminal investigation into an allegation that the deputy forcefully mistreated a jail inmate, Undersheriff Danny Bardezbain said Wednesday.
The investigation, prompted by an allegation from a sheriff’s employee, involved interviewing 70 people, Bardezbain said. The investigation was presented to prosecutors last week, and they decided not to file charges, he said.
During the investigation, the deputy under investigation was working in a restricted capacity with no inmate contact, but is now being returned to full duty, Bardezbain said.
The investigation involved one alleged incident.
