The Kansas Humane Society says it helped a record number of animals in July and August.
A news release from the animal shelter said that it took in 1,789 animals in July, or an average of 58 per day. August’s numbers were similar, the shelter said in a news release, and September is looking busy as well.
To help more animals, the shelter has reduced the fee to adopt kittens to $9 and waived the fee for adult cats through September.
The shelter at 3313 N. Hillside in Wichita is open for adoptions 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Pets may be viewed online at www.kshumane.org.
