Derby will hold its third annual national barbecue derby, Sept. 6-7, at High Park, 2801 E. James.
The event will be from 7 to 11 p.m. on Sept. 6, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
In the people’s choice voting for the best pulled pork, individuals pay $5 each to try four samples before voting. Barbeque and other food and drinks also will be avaible at concession stands.
As of Thursday, 24 teams had entered the competitive barbeque competion and nine had entered the backyard barbeque division, a city spokeswoman said.
