Wichita City Council members will consider a settlement this morning to cover the city's expenses for failed pumps at its aquifer storage project northwest of the city.
The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall.
The settlement, for between $450,000 and $600,000, will cover 30 new pumps provided by the water project contractor, Dondlinger and Sons Construction, to cover pumps that began failing almost a year ago. Dondlinger has worked with the city since those October 2012 failures to keep the groundwater project running. The ASR project, located in northern Sedgwick County running into western Harvey County, currently provides about 30 percent of the city's water.
The council also will review the city's water management and pavement preservation programs.
