One person hurt in west Wichita house fire

One person was injured in a house fire in west Wichita late Thursday night, authorities said.

The fire was reported just before 11:40 p.m. at 1827 W. Irving, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. That’s south of Kellogg about midway between Meridian and Seneca.

Firefighters reported flames being visible just three minutes after the fire was reported, the supervisor said, but crews got the fire out quickly. Units began being released back to their station about 20 minutes after arrival.

The fire started in a back bedroom, the supervisor said. A cause and a damage estimate have not yet been released.

One person was taken to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, the supervisor said. The Red Cross was called out to assist four adults and two children who live in the house.
